6 Steps to Create a Fan Page on Facebook

Facebook is a great way to enter the social media marketing network. One way to use Facebook effectively is to create a fan page for acquiring persons interested in your small business. Below is a step-by-step guide to creating your fan page.

Facebook is one of the easiest online platforms to navigate. The site host 300 million users and of that number over half are active on Facebook on a daily basis. With ease of use and plenty of active members to friend, a small business has the potential to grow new clients. A fan page can help communicate to these potential clients.

Step One

To begin making your fan page you must first have a Facebook user account. First, click on Create a Page. After doing this, you will need to decide what category your page will fit under. Then you will need to name your page. The name needs to be the exact name of your business it represents.

Step Two

Next, you will have the opportunity to upload a picture which best describes your fan page. You should carefully decide which photo to use, since once uploaded it will only be the size of a thumbnail image. The photo needs to be clear and represents you best.

Step Three

This step is probably the most important step. Add text about your business. This is important because it gives you the chance to communicate about your products. Where can your fans purchase your product? Be very detailed on this part of the set-up. The more facts you can give about your business the more successful your fan page will become.

Step Four

Fan pages are similar to profile pages in the fact they both have multiple tabs at the top of the page. These tabs can be anything from a public profile to photos, to notes, and applications. Be creative when dressing up your fan page. Click on one of these tabs, like the photo tab and add images of your product. Or maybe you’re an author who just had a book signing and has many pictures of the big event you can share. Another idea if you own a restaurant maybe you can take photos of your establishment and upload them to your fan page. The more creative you are at this phase of the set-up the better.

Step Five

It’s now time to publish your fan page. But that doesn’t mean you’re through. Once your new fan page pops up, you should then edit your content. Edit your public profile by adding who you are and remember to add your website, and contact information. Set your privacy settings. Make your new fan page as unique as possible.

Step Six

The last step is the hardest of the entire process…keep your page updated frequently with new content, promotions, events, and photos. Users will not return if your content is stale.

Congratulations, you now have your very own fan page on Facebook!
